The San Juan Foil Cup is an international, hydrofoil kitesurfing race that is to take place on February 20th – 23rd of 2014.  The kites will launch from the beaches of Isla Verde, Carolina, Puerto Rico in front of Café La Plage.  The event will have both local and International competitors coming from California, France, Colombia, Brazil and Dubai.

The event is the first of its kind in Puerto Rico and will demonstrate the sophistication of the sport in the most beautiful waters. It is confirmed that the best sailors in the world will attend, making this not only a local spectacle, but also one that will be watched worldwide through the use of social media channels and live streaming.

The Race
The sporting event will consist of four days of racing, with several races occurring on each given day. The race course is composed of different buoys strategically placed by the race committee within several miles from each other along the beaches of Carolina, Puerto Rico. The racers are required to complete the designated course in the fastest time possible. Being that the buoys are near shore, having multiple competitors flying in formation with large colorful kites, makes for a majestic scene.

The technicalities and organization of the racing will be governed by a race committee composed of international representatives whom dedicate themselves to such a profession on the World Kitesurfing Tour. Permitting, insurance and all technicalities needed to host a publicly held event are being provided by the local Puerto Rican Kitesurfing Association, which has established the proper infrastructure to host multiple events per year.

The event will be equipped with the necessary features for several days on the beach, This includes the use of tents, flags, boats, buoys, provisions safety and sound systems.
